Mindfulness is the practice of being fully present and engaged in the moment, without judgment. It’s about tuning into your thoughts, feelings, and surroundings. Mindfulness can be practiced anywhere—whether through breathing exercises, mindful walking, or activities like Forest Bathing and Contrast Therapy, which help bring attention to the present moment. These practices help you feel more connected and aware of your senses, which can improve your mental clarity and overall well-being.
-
Mindfulness activates the parasympathetic nervous system—our body's natural "rest and digest" mode—which helps lower stress hormones and encourages a calmer, more balanced state. Regular mindfulness practice can reduce stress, lower blood pressure, improve sleep, boost focus and creativity, and help regulate emotions. It’s also linked to reduced anxiety, depression, inflammation, and even pain. Over time, mindfulness strengthens the mind-body connection, supports hormone balance, and promotes overall physical and mental well-being.

Meditation is a technique often used to achieve a mindful state. It involves focusing the mind, typically through breathwork or specific practices, to cultivate awareness and presence. While meditation is a helpful tool for developing mindfulness, mindfulness itself can be practiced throughout daily activities, such as walking, washing dishes, or cooking. Meditation helps build the habit of being present, but mindfulness is about bringing that awareness into everything you do. If you're new to this, feel free to contact us for details on our beginner’s program.
-
Yes, anyone can learn to meditate! It's not about emptying your mind of all thoughts, but rather developing awareness and focus. Techniques like breathwork help calm the mind and bring your attention to the present moment. Practices like Forest Bathing and Tontrast therapy are also great ways to practice mindfulness, and during our sessions and workshops, we guide you through brief meditation practices to enhance the experience. If you’re just starting out, our beginner’s Mindful Living program is a great way to get started.

Forest Bathing, or Shinrin Yoku, is a practice that originated in Japan, meaning “to bathe in the forest atmosphere.” It involves slowing down, walking mindfully through the woods, and connecting to nature through all five senses. At The Naturally Curious, we guide Forest Bathing+ sessions, which weave in mindfulness practices, are based in carefully chosen biodiverse locations, and are supported by ongoing scientific research — all to enhance well-being and help protect our vital natural spaces.
-
Scientific research has now confirmed that spending mindful time in nature can significantly benefit physical and mental health. Regular Forest Bathing can help lower stress levels, boost mood and immune function, improve sleep, support cardiovascular and metabolic health, and enhance emotional resilience. Over time, these positive effects can build, helping you feel more balanced, energised, and connected to yourself and the natural world.
-
Forest Bathing is grounded in scientific research that shows spending time in nature can reduce stress, improve mood, lower blood pressure, and boost immunity. While some ancient traditions and spiritual practices have a deep connection to nature, our sessions focus on evidence-backed methods that enhance physical and mental well-being. It’s a practice open to anyone, no matter their background, looking to connect with nature in a mindful, health-focused way.

No. Rain doesn't cancel the session — in fact, it can enhance the experience. The air becomes enriched with phytoncides, natural compounds released by plants and trees that boost immune function. Rain also offers unique sensory experiences, like the shimmer of raindrops on leaves and the soothing sounds of rainfall. Your Guide will encourage you to embrace it, breathe deeply, and connect more deeply with nature in this calming, immersive atmosphere. In the case of severe weather (such as storms or high winds), sessions may be postponed for safety reasons. See our Terms and Conditions for full details.

For Forest Bathing, we recommend wearing good, stable footwear suitable for woodland terrain, as well as warm outdoor clothing, especially during cooler months. It’s also a good idea to bring a rug or mat to sit or lie on during relaxation exercises. After booking, you’ll receive a detailed information sheet with more specific recommendations based on the season.
